Tank Leak Detection Demonstration Project

Aerial view of tank locationThe Tank Leak Detection Demonstration (TLDD) activity is funded by the U.S. Department of Energy under the direction of the River Protection Program (RPP), through its contractor CH2M Hill Hanford Group (CHG). The purpose of the tank leak demonstration, during FY2001, was to support system designs for LDMM. During July and August of 2001, CHG engaged PNNL to deploy six “ex-tank” leak-detection technologies at the Hanford Site Mock Tank Site in a TLDD. These technologies consist of five geophysical methods and a subsurface air flow and extraction (SAFE) method.
